Frequently asked questions

  • For those looking to enhance their relationships, regardless of whether they are experiencing difficulties, seeking assitance is a valuable option.

  • There can be a lot of anxiety around starting therapy, which makes sense. You’re embarking on a new journey, sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings with a total stranger, and if this is your first time working with the therapist, it might all be new to you. Therapy is a moment-to-moment guided relationship between the two of us. Together, we will work through your unique experiences that may be causing barriers and suffering in your life; often, the parts that create the most suffering are issues that needed to stay hidden until now. We will collaboratively work toward your goals and develop more insight into who you are today and who you want to become.

  • Good therapy is built on connection. Studies show that the relationship or “fit” between client and therapist is the most important factor in determining successful outcomes. I provide a brief consult to see if we are a good fit prior to our first session. This is a time where you can ask questions, learn about treatment approaches and see what it would be like to work together. I encourage you to think about what qualities or skills you’d like a therapist to have that would make them the best match for you. While I have experience working with a diverse clientele, I respect thoughtful matching and understand if you wish to continue your search. I would be happy to provide you with refferals.

  • I am happy to accept new clients and offer flexible appointment times, including both daytime and evening slots.

  • I offer a limited number of sliding-scale appointments. I am happy to discuss more over the phone.

  • I do not bill insurance. However, I can also provide monthly statements as a superbill to submit to your insurance provider. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be able to receive “out of network” services and receive partial reimbursement for sessions.

  • Standard sessions are 50 minutes and take place weekly or bi-weekly.

  • Your diagnosis is rarely the first of even second consideration in getting to know you and crafting your care. Often a diagnosis is not needed. However, if you need a diagnosis for your insurance or another reason, please let me know, we will discuss this together.
